UPSC Selection Process 2024 Prelims

In 2024, the UPSC Selection Process 2024 will start with the Prelims Exam that comprises two objective-type papers: General Studies Paper I and General Studies Paper II, which is popularly known as the Civil Services Aptitude Test or CSAT. UPSC Prelims is like a very strict screening that reduces lakhs of applicants to only a few thousand for the next stage of the selection process.

The total score for this stage is set at 400 marks; however, it is not included in the final merit list since it serves merely as a qualifying measure. Once cleared at the Prelims stage, the candidates will have to face the greater challenge of the Mains Examination. UPSC Mains 2024 is considered the second level that will be conducted on September 20, 2024. Here also, the candidates need to face nine papers based on the subjects studied and every paper will last for 3 hours. Out of which qualify with marks of 25% and 7 merit papers whose cutoff is announced, which is essential for shortlisting candidates for the UPSC interview stage.

The third and final stage the of UPSC Selection Process 2024 is the Interview Test, This important round tests personality traits, leadership qualities, and key qualities that civil service officers would essentially require in their careers. A panel of experts evaluates the abilities of successful candidates to solve problems and make effective decisions in areas of ethics and more, as they invite candidates who have surpassed the cut-off of UPSC Mains and for IAS interviews.

UPSC Selection Process 2024 DV & Medical Exam

Document Verification (DV) and Medical Examination are the two crucial segments of UPSC selection. The process of DV happens along with the UPSC interview. In the interview, original documents provided in the UPSC Mains DAF are individually checked for authenticity and accuracy.
