This is a descriptive paper.

  • गद्यांश (Comprehension): Precis, explanation, and title of an unseen passage.
  • सरकारी पत्र का सारणी रूप में सार लेखन (Tabular form of a Government Letter).
  • पत्राचार (Correspondence): Official/Semi-official letters, circulars, notifications.
  • शब्दावली (Vocabulary): Translation (English to Hindi & Hindi to English), Synonyms, Antonyms, One-word substitution.
Mains - Paper 3 (Essay)

Candidates are required to write three essays in total, choosing one from each section. Essays can be written in either Hindi or English.

  • Section A: Literature and Culture, Social Issues, Political Issues. (Word limit: 600)
  • Section B: Science, Environment & Technology, Economic Issues, Agriculture & Trade. (Word limit: 600)

Ans: No, the Preliminary exam is only a screening test to shortlist candidates for the Main examination. The marks obtained in the Prelims are not considered for the final merit list.
