  • Factors influencing development (heredity and environment).
  • Role of Heredity & Environment in the development of the child.
  • Individual differences, Personality, Intelligence.
  • Understanding diverse learners, gifted, creative, specially abled learners.
• Learning:
  • Meaning and theories of learning (Behaviorism, Cognitivism, Constructivism).
  • Factors affecting learning, motivation and implications for teaching.
  • How Children Learn and Think, Learning disabilities.
• Pedagogy:
  • Teaching-learning process, teaching methods, teaching aids.
  • Evaluation, measurement & assessment, Continuous & Comprehensive Evaluation (CCE).
  • Action Research.
  • Right to Education Act 2009 (RTE 2009).

This section assesses proficiency in the chosen first language, generally the medium of instruction.

• Language Comprehension:
  • Unseen prose passage with questions on grammar, inference, literary, and factual aspects.
  • Unseen poetry passage with questions on grammar, comprehension, and literary aspects.
• Pedagogy of Language Development:
  • Principles of language teaching.
  • Role of listening and speaking; function of language and how children use it as a tool.
  • Challenges of teaching language in a diverse classroom; language difficulties, errors and disorders.
  • Language skills (listening, speaking, reading, writing).
  • Evaluation of language comprehension and proficiency.
