ICG Navik (GD) 2025: Exam Overview & Pattern

The selection process for Navik (GD) is a multi-stage process. The first and most critical stage is the Computer-Based Written Examination (CGEPT). For the Navik (GD) post, candidates must appear for and qualify in both Section I and Section II of the written test.

Section I - Science (Class 10th Level)	This section covers fundamental concepts of general science. Nature of Matter, Universe (Planets, Earth, Satellites, Sun). Electricity and its application, Force and Gravitation, Newton’s Laws of Motion. Work, Energy, and Power, Heat, Temperature. Metals and Non-Metals, Carbon and its Compounds.
Section I - English	This section assesses basic command of the English language. Reading Comprehension, Prepositions, Correction of sentences. Change active to passive voice & passive to active voice. Change direct to indirect speech & indirect to direct speech. Verbs, Tense, Non-Finites. Synonyms and Antonyms, Idioms and phrases.
Section I - General Reasoning	This section tests verbal and non-verbal reasoning skills. Spatial and Numerical Reasoning, Associative Ability. Sequences, Spelling Unscrambling. Coding and Decoding, Series, Odd one out.
Section I - General Knowledge	This section tests general awareness. History, Geography, Culture and Religion. Current Affairs (National & International), Sports. Important National Facts, Heritage and Arts, Dance. Defence, Wars and Neighbours, Awards & Authors.
Section II - Maths (Class 12th Level)	This section tests higher-level mathematics. Sets, Relations and Functions, Complex Numbers, Quadratic Equations. Matrices and Determinants, Permutations and Combinations, Binomial Theorem. Sequence and Series, Calculus (Limits, Continuity, Differentiation, Integration). Vectors and Three-Dimensional Geometry, Probability.
Section II - Physics (Class 12th Level)	This section tests concepts of higher-level physics. Physical world and Measurement, Kinematics, Laws of Motion.
