IBPS RRB 2025: Exam Pattern (Officer Scale-I & Office Assistant)

The selection process consists of a Preliminary Exam and a Main Exam for both posts. An interview is conducted only for the Officer Scale-I post. The exam pattern for both posts is similar, with the difficulty level being higher for the Officer Scale-I exam.

Q1: Is there a sectional cut-off in the IBPS RRB exams?

Ans: Yes, IBPS maintains both sectional (subject-wise) and overall cut-offs. A candidate must clear both the sectional and overall cut-offs in both the Preliminary and Main examinations to be shortlisted.

Q2: Are the marks of the Preliminary exam counted for the final merit list?

Ans: No, the Preliminary exam is only qualifying in nature. The marks obtained in the Prelims are not considered for the final merit list. The final selection is based on the marks obtained in the Main Exam (and interview for PO).

Q3: Do I have to attempt both English and Hindi in the Mains exam?

Ans: No. In the Mains exam, candidates have a choice to attempt either the English Language section or the Hindi Language section. You do not need to attempt both.

Q4: Is there an interview for the Office Assistant (Clerk) post?

Ans: No, there is no interview for the post of Office Assistant (Clerk). The final selection is based solely on the marks obtained in the Main Examination.
