Q1: What is the negative marking scheme in the BSSC CGL exam?

Ans: Yes, there is a significant negative marking. For every incorrect answer, 1 mark is deducted, while for every correct answer, 4 marks are awarded.

Q2: Are the marks of the Preliminary exam counted for the final merit list?

Ans: No, the Preliminary exam is only qualifying in nature. Its purpose is to shortlist candidates for the Main examination. The final selection is based on the Mains Paper-II score.

Q3: Is the Hindi paper in the Mains exam used for merit calculation?

Ans: No. The General Hindi paper (Paper-I) in the Mains is also qualifying in nature. A candidate must score at least 30% in this paper for their Paper-II to be evaluated.
